HP VI04, LA03, HS04, oa04

The procedure is to post a screenshot with battery name & static battery data of each battery with BQ30Z55 that you have.

I will post some screenshots of batteries using BQ30Z series but where do I get the firmware version from?

Thanks

in present software version auto detection of chip and firmware version is not supported, but you could do it manually, for bq30z55 chip go to Smbus Tab and run these commands,

WriteWord 0x0002 to Register 0x00

ReadBlock 0x23

Paste output here

As you have realized already the chip is not BQ30Z55 at all. Since it's a replacement battery it's normal, they use cheap alternatives like A21xx & SH79Fxxxx.

NLBA chip detection method is based on offline database based on device name, manufacturer name ect.

And since the aftermaket battery pack makers copy this info and paste it into their chip firmware in order for the battery to be properly detected & charged by the laptop, the chip detection can be misleading just like in your case.

But i guess you have opened the battery case and saw the chip already.

What a mess - Vcell1 is more then 6V, cell2 and 3 are 0V... how is that ?

Lets Make NLBA Great ! Together.

You have mentioned laptop brand ASUS but CS03XL is a HP battery part number. Maybe a mistype?

It's actually Expected Chip name, basing on what is used in genuine CS03XL pack.

You replica battery has Static fields copied from original to match BIOS checks, so in this case chip displayed not correctly.

Actual chip model/marking: A2170

This chip has another registers for autodetection.

WriteWord 0x0001 to Register 0x00

ReadWord 0x00

WriteWord 0x0002 to Register 0x00

ReadWord 0x00

Having in view it was different chip, ReadBlock 0x23 does not contain firmware version fields.

Do you have any battery which uses bq30z5xx chip?

If so, paste response from it here and me will explain how to properly decode it.

I apologise, the Battery is for HP indeed! That was a typo.

If I replace cell 4, would it be possible to unlock?

Thanks

Actual chip model/marking: BQ30Z55

Block 0x23 data: 05500036003400038000010003

So, first 2 bytes encode device type

0550 = bq30z55

Next 2 bytes encode firmware version

0036 = v0.36

Then there are some additional parameters like fw build, IT version, chip release etc.

At present moment this battery model not supported even for remote session.
