Hello

A1502 A1582

I am a beginner in using the NLBA software.
I bought the A1582 battery from Macbook Pro 13 A1502 which is new but it does not detect on Macbook Pro 13 A1502 OS.

In NLBA software it detects the battery and it displays Cells Balance: Bad Balance. I clicked the Read Capacity button it does not show Current Capacity.

Is this battery repairable ?

THANKS

Read Static parameters too.

 It depends on cells quality.

There is very big unbalance which is the reason that battery is out of order. Chip blocked the battery for safety concerns to prevent overvoltage hazard in case of charge unbalanced cells.

To bring the battery into working condition, charge Cell 3 to same level like Cell 1 and 2 using regulated power supply. If you dont know how to do it bring the battery to qualified workshop for repair.

After cells properly balanced, unlock the chip using Reset page. Then check and recover controllable fuse. Then go to Cells Check page and run test to evaluate cells quality. Then check cells self discharge rate to evaluate charge leakage level. Cell 3 could have big self discharge rate.

Hello djibattworkshop

Attached is the photo of Static Battery Data.

Can I change the battery from my NLBA1 box (see photo) ?

Charge

In France, there is no store that does battery repairs. I purchased NLBA1 to analyze our customer's batteries and learn how to repair the battery ourselves.

Thank you for your help

More information: I tried charging the battery with the NLBA1 box which is stuck at 5%

1. Your battery is not genuine. Genuine Apple Macbook batteries are using Texas Instruments chips BQ which are detected on SMBus, your one is not detected:

2. A good battery has balanced cells while your battery has a big imbalance (cell3 voltage much lower than the other two). A good balance means all the cells in a battery have almost the same voltage).

This is the reason while your battery stops charging at 5%, because the other two are fully charged while the 3rd battery is much lower.

You need to charge Cell 3 first and not a battery. Chip is not locked so there is a chances to repair the battery just by balancing the cells.

NLBA1 is not a balancer, it is battery analyzer.

and learn how to repair the battery ourselves

Battery repair requires a lot of extra equipment and materials and qualified smart battery technician.

But in this specific case battery could be fixed by cells balancing because chip still not locked. The easiest way to do it is to detach adhesive cover, access Cell 3 electrodes, attach wires from regulated power supply using small crocodiles and charge it to same level like Cell 1 and 2.

Hello

I have removed the adhesives, you can take me up to charge at the same level as cells 1 and 2 please. I put the photo of my battery.

Touch multimeter black probe to a point marked with VG, then measure the voltage with red probe on the point marked with VL.

Then touch red probe to each of the cells terminals from the left to the right.

Post all measured values.

So Cell 3 group is located at right side and consists of two cells connected in parallel.

It has 11.78 - 8.42 = 3.36v which is different from chip reported value. Probably chip or multimeter is not calibrated properly.

To balance Cell 3 connect Regulated Power Supply to cell 3 electrodes and charge it to 4.2v by 0.5a current.

Hi

I don't know, I tried to charge a group 3 cell to try but didn't see it charging it.

I'm not doing it correctly

Connect black crocodile to 8.42v electrode of Cell 3.

Connect red crocodile to 11.78v electrode of Cell 3.

No need any extra wires.
