I took apart my NLBA1 to see why I wasn't getting USB connectivity and found U6_1 is pretty hot with or without a PL2303TA installed.
May we know what this is? Perhaps it is why I get no USB connection?
Is the device under 1 year warranty ?
Sorry I didn't reply. It is out of warranty sadly
OK so it's probably a TVS diode and it's sitting on the 5V USB line which reads 0 ohms to ground. So something on this line is shorted maybe
So there's definitely a short somewhere, but I've put 5 amps into this thing and i can not find it.
I pulled the big current sense resistor to get a sense for where the short was. It's "before" the FET. I pulled U1 and U5 as well. I also lifted the leg on U3 which turned out useless since it's just ground. Do you know any other places this short could be?
Sorry but we don't do online debugging.
In such situations, when such a device returns in warranty we simply replace the board. To be honest, I don't know what is the issue.
I understand. Do you have any boardview or schematic? If this is improper, I apologize, as you may know our community is used to having proprietary resources for free!
Also, do you do board replacements out of warranty? I am always open to paying for stuff, despite what I just typed out hahah
We don't offer schematics.
We don't sell boards, only sealed new devices.
