1. PL2303TA does not work with Win11, make sure you use Win7 to Win10.
2. MSP430 U5 fails because of incorrect wiring. Make sure you have this small improvement: https://www.laptopu.ro/2025/01/11/how-to-improve-the-u5-protection-of-the-nlba1-hardware/
Unfortunately the device is out of warranty since you opened it and modified it.
If PL2303TA is soldered correctly and all its passive required components are not affected then there is no reason to not show it up in the software.

Is there any way to modify this to work with Windows 11? Or can this be run in a virtual machine without using up 1 of the pc installs?
PL2303TA does not support Win11. I discussed this with Prolific, and they said the only way to use a certified Win11 driver is to replace the chip with PL2303GC, which supports Windows 7 to Win11.
We are no responsible of the OS and the environment used by the customer, a virtual machine can be detected as a new PC, we cannot know if it is a new PC or not, if it has a different hardware footprint then it will be treated as a new PC.
I found a working fix that I tested to use the older version on Windows 11.
How to install:
Download here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SJwR_QjPFtlIkVrT7xSlLfxL82bK5xn4/view?usp=sharing
-
Open Device Manager.
-
Find your PL2303TA device under "Ports (COM & LPT)".
-
Right-click and select "Update driver".
-
Choose "Browse my computer for drivers".
-
Select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer".
-
Pick version 3.9.0.2 (or another known working older version, such as 3.8.25.0 or 3.8.36.2)247.
-
Complete the installation.
After some time, after some Windows updates, Windows will replace the driver and device won't be discovered.

Use a Legacy Driver Utility

Tools like the PL2303 Legacy Driver Updater can help install and maintain the correct legacy driver for your device, even if Windows Update tries to override it.

Hello craigbrendar
I successfully installed your driver using your method and it works on my Windows 11.
Thank you very much for sharing.
NLBA1 produced before 04-Oct-2024 supports Win7/8/10
NLBA1 produced after 04-Oct-2024 supports Win7/8/10/11
We are not responsible for other versions. Win11 replaces the driver very often, from my experience. Only PL2303GC has full support for Win11.

Hello,
I believe NLBA1 users are often laptop repair technicians. We have the necessary skills to replace SMD electronic components.
We’ve been replacing Intel chipsets and CPUs on laptops and MacBook Pros for over 10 years. Therefore, replacing the PL2303GC component in the NLBA1 should not be a problem.
I found this component on AliExpress:
Please confirm if it is suitable so I can proceed with the order.
Thank you.
