Model 1 unit not seen

I decided to re-acquaint myself with model 1 today, using the 4.4 software.  But, no joy.  The program does not see the unit.  Green power LED is on, and the USB plug-in was recognized with the usual sound.
 
What am I doing wrong? 
 
I’m trying to revive an HP battery (KI04) that was carelessly taken down to 0%, and now will not charge with the power brick.

This is an edit to my above post:  I'm getting "Make sure the internet is working..." error.  I added Laptop Battery Analyzer to allowed apps to my firewall with no joy.
