Hello all
I am new here so please excuse me if I say something stupid, The battery I have is a Fujitsu/SIM SDI brand and has a BQ20Z704 FW V1,50
After replacing all cells I reset the chip as per one of the YouTube video instructions but when I perform the AutoCycle/Calibrate feature, the final resultant capacity is much less than the Measured capacity see attached screenshot), On the Chip Info in the Reset menu I have Operation Status : Unsealed, FAS and the PFStatus = 0000, do I have to use the SMBus Commands tab to send/edit some other commands/words?
What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks for your help
Hi, are your cells balanced? Paste first tab screenshot, battery info.
This is an impedance tracking gauge and after cells replacement it must be completely reprogrammed using EV2300 & BQEvsw.
There is also a calibration proccess that must be followed so the chip will learn the new cells capacity.
There is a detailed tutorial about it here How to Reset, Reprogram and Calibrate BQ20ZXX family chips after battery cells replacement
Is it critical to have the original EV2300 by TI or is a chinese equivalent that can be found on eBay enough for the job ?

I always recommend the original.
We have a few topics here on the forum with problematic chinese clones.
Some even non functional at all.
It's a matter of luck what you will get.
Everyone decides for himself what device to buy.
OK, just bought original TI unit from AliExpress - will wait till end of April/May to arrive
I hope also the NLBA1 team succeeds to make bqEVSW working with NLBA1 device
Thanks @tortue
