Hi,

I have a Lenovo 45N1025 battery pack based on LG LGABC21865 (4.3v) cells and Renesas 51F51. Would it be possible to edit the EEPROM data to change the maximum charge voltage and FCC so that pack can be rebuilt with BAK H18650CQ (4.2v)?

Chip: Renesas 51F51

Cells: LG LGABC21865

BAK H18650CQ specifications:

Capacity: 2550mAh Rated
Voltage: 3.60V Nominal
Charging: 4.20V Maximum
Charging current (standard): 1250mA
Charging current (max): 2500mA
Discharging: 2.75V Cutoff
Discharging current (standard): 2500mA
Discharging current (max): 7500mA

Thanks

Yes it's possible. I can do it for you over remote session.

You need to have EV2300.

Yes I have an EV2400. I will prepare the battery (recell etc) and let you know.

Thanks

I am about to buy cells but unsure which ones to get.

What about replacing with these?

BAK N18650CL specifications:

Capacity: 2900mAh Rated
Voltage: 3.60V Nominal
Charging: 4.20V Maximum
Charging current (standard): 1250mA
Charging current (max): 2900mA
Discharging: 2.5V Cutoff
Discharging current (standard): 2500mA
Discharging current (max): 8700mA

Not sure if things will go smooth with EV2400 but we will definitely give it a try.

Please note that i'm available untill 05.10.2021.

After that i will be back January 2022.

BAK brand is not bad at all, i have used them many times.

What ever you choose will be fine, dataflash will be reprogrammed for your specific type of cells.

OK, Thanks for letting me know. The batteries will arrive later than that date. Hopefully, someone else can help me on the forum.

What ever you choose will be fine, dataflash will be reprogrammed for your specific type of cells.

So I have finally recelled this battery pack. with the below cells:

BAK N18650CL:

Capacity: 2800mAh Rated
Voltage: 3.60V Nominal
Charging: 4.20V Maximum
Charging current (standard): 1250mA
Charging current (max): 2900mA
Discharging: 2.5V Cutoff
Discharging current (standard): 2500mA
Discharging current (max): 8700mA

The original batteries were:

LG LGABC21865

Capacity: 2800mAh Rated
Voltage: 3.72V Nominal
Charging: 4.30V Maximum
Charging current (standard): 1350mA
Charging current (max): 2700mA
Discharging: 3.00V Cutoff
Discharging current (standard): 540mA
Discharging current (max): 5400mA

So essentially this battery pack is going from 4.3v 2800mAh cells to 4.2v  2800mAh cells.

Would it be possible to remotely adust the parameters of this battery pack, please?

Thanks

Thanks, @torture for changing the parameters on my battery pack. Results are as follows:

As you can see, the FCC has been decreased but I think it is acceptable.

Thanks

FCC has been decreased

Yes i see.

I have decreased the EMF/EDV profiles in the dump.

Cut-off volatge was set to 3.5v which quite hight but is normal for the original LIHV cells.

Can you post the discharge log so i can see at what volatge the chip adjusted the FCC?

I used the Autocycle/Calibrate tab to calibrate the battery and it seems that this operation does not log anything as I cannot find any related logs. @azzido Can you please confirm?

Thanks

@torture I just had a mishap with this battery pack. I burnt the Renesas 51F51 gas gauge by mistake while trying to close the battery.

I managed to fix it by replacing the chip from a donor board. However, I now need to reflash the modified dump back into this 'new' chip to make it compatible with the laptop and also for recalibration.

Would it be possible to do that at your convenience?

Thanks

How do you burn a chip while closing the case?

I really don't get it.
