Hi all,
I bought the device in August 2021. I played with it and learned for two years. I had to change two PCs during that time.
Due to the warning about the number of computers on which the device can be used, which previously was 3 PCs, at the end of 2022. I bought a PC with a legal operating system just because of this device.
In February 2023. I bought a license to unlock chips on laptop batteries.
The same configuration without any changes has been used up to now.
The last time I used the device was at the end of February this year before the license expired to check and unlock some batteries.
I haven't used the device since February 2024 until today, today one battery arrived for me to check and I turned on the device and it reported that the software needs to be upgraded and that the fifth PC change was detected and there was only one more change left. Just like the picture.
From the end of 2022 until today, the device is used on the same PC, it is an HP brand PC, and no changes have been made.
Please for instructions on how I can resolve this so that it does not occur again, to not spend this one change that I have left I should keep it just in case and if I have not used it up two detected already.
Thanks in advance.
Just avoid BIOS update.
P.S. BIOS update affects our software, BIOS update can be performed in the background without your ackwnowledge.
Hi Nicusor,
Thank you for info.
What happens when a user goes beyond these 6 PC swaps, and if they may not have physically swapped PCs?
In our EULA it is stated that the PC can be changed for maximum 3 times: https://www.laptopu.ro/eula/ Since you reached the counter 6 then we already gave you some additional free slots for free.
Any user can buy at any time extra 3 PC changes for 50$ (at this moment).
Also, we think about offering 1 free slot every new year, but it is still not valid at this moment.
From the end of 2022 until today, the device is used on the same PC, it is an HP brand PC, and no changes have been made
Did you manually update BIOS at least once on subject PC ?..
Hi Nicusor,
Sorry for my late replay.
I know that three changes are allowed as I mentioned in the description above. That's why I made the last third physical change by buying an HP brand computer so that I wouldn't have a problem with exceeding changes.
I didn't realize that you allowed me three additional changes but I didn't physically make these two registered, it turns out that the BIOS upgrade did it.
Windows upgrade is automatic on my PC. I know that Windows update can also trigger the BIOS update itself when it finds a new update and this happens most often on branded PCs and laptops.
It is not right to stop Windows and BIOS upgrade because of the increase of physically unmade changes, all upgrades improve the performance and stability of the computer.
I think you need to find another way of checking the changes that won't be affected by BIOS.
I hope you agree with me.
We will investigate it, it is not so simple, we need to read something to identify the pc was changed or not.
Use email or WhatsApp.
I have paid 50 dollar, but WhatsApp just read it and didn't reply. Can I get the contact information of the manager? I need help badly.
I agree with milanmitic0070 about :
"It is not right to stop Windows and BIOS upgrade because of the increase of physically unmade changes, all upgrades improve the performance and stability of the computer."
The use of passkeys where NIP embedded would hold a part of the key and the customer holding the other part of the PC-specific key solves the complete issue, as this last one can ONLY be used on that specific PC.
As such you would still be capable of changing BIOS or updating windows form lets say Windows 10 => Windows 11
@milanmitic0070 hello sir , did they fixed your problem ? because i've a similar problem thank you
We are working right now for a new software version which has a better PC change detection.
@azzido a PC can update BIOS or the Intel ME inside the BIOS, which will trigger PC change in your S/W. even some Desktop MotherBoards have self BIOS recovery if there is a bios corruption like mine. you can check if MoBo SN has changed or different permanent values inside the BIOS, just to be fair with you customers. you can check MoBoard model or even CPU change as it's very rare to change a CPU
