I am trying to unseal a drone battery pack that uses a TI BQ3055 BMS chip versus a DJI Phantom 3 battery that uses a TI BQ30Z55 BMS chip. When I use the NIP software with a EV2300 it correctly identifies the chip as a BQ3055 FW v0.04 (See Attached Pics) but when I go to the Reset tab and have it read the SBS it says the chip is a BQ20ZXX. When I go to "Unseal" it says the chip is not supported by my license type (I have the DJI License).

When I use a DJI Phantom 3 battery using a TI BQ30Z55 BMS chip everything work as advertised with the NIP program and with the TI BQ Studio program so I know my setup is OK (Windows 10 Pro 32bit with a EV2300).

How do I unseal the TI BQ3055 BMS chip using the NIP program. Any help would be greatly appreciated......

 Dji license currently only supports Dji batteries. Thats why another brand battery could not be fixed. We could add this battery to supported list but you should provide more information about it.

@thomasmfazekas

Yes, You have DJI license which is for DJI batteries only.

Your battery is Autel, this chip bq3050 is supported by the Laptop Battery Chip License since it is present in the laptop batteries.

@thomasmfazekas

Anyway, I have extended your license for this chip even though it is not DJI. Please check it and let me know the result.

The battery is from a Autel Robotics Xstar Premium drone. See the attached pics for specs for this battery. Before buying the DJI license I asked tech support if this BMS chip (BQ3055 not BQ30Z55) could be unsealed and was assured that it could. This battery pack is almost Identical to the DJI Phantom 3 battery.  Do any laptop batteries use this BQ3055 BMS chip ?

I can use the TI BQEval software and read the SMB bus but cannot unseal it to change parameters. (See Pics). I would really like to unseal this battery so I can replace the LIPO's with new ones but need to change some parameters in the TI BQ3055 chip to reflect these changes. If I buy the laptop license from NIP will I be able to unseal it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The battery is from a Autel Robotics Xstar Premium drone

 This drone is obsolete and no longer supported.  It looks like Dji Phantom 3 replica, quite similar form factor, even battery has same form and connector.  Does anyone still use it ?

 Dji and Autel released newer models since 2015 with much better performance and characteristics.

Do any laptop batteries use this BQ3055 BMS chip ?

 Yes, it is popular in chinese aftermarket batteries.

 Is your battery genuine or copy ?..

My battery is genuine. All Xstar Premium batteries use the TI BQ3055 chip. The battery is no longer in production so you have to fix what you got, unlike DJI Phantom 3 batteries which are easy to get and still supported by DJI. The drone was very expensive and sophisicated using a 4K camera it is now a paper weght unless I can unseal and replace the LIPO's. Anything you do to help me is greatly appreciated.

 Paste a picture of original LiPo cells.

Wonder if they are produced by ATL company.

I have spent many hours and money on this problem all I need to do is unseal the TI BQ3055 chip. I have succesfully swapped a new set of LIPO's from a DJI Phantom 3 battery but do not get the 20 -25 minute flight time because the total capacity is wrong in the BQ3055 registers. Hopefully you guys can figure this out for me. As for the Lipo cells there is no markings except a bar code symbol see attached photo. Again, many thanks......

 Basing on the marking on battery enclosure it uses standard LiPo cells with 4900mAh capacity.

 14.8 / 4 = 3.7v

But Dji Phantom 3 battery uses LiPoHv cells with 3.8v of nominal voltage. It is designed to be charged to 4.35v instead of 4.20v for LiPo cells. Also discharge characteristic is different. LiPo cell considered to be empty at around 3.0v per cell but LiPoHv cells have higher low voltage limit and considered empty already at 3.3 volts.

Thats why you can not get same flight time like on genuine battery.

DJI P3 Cell has capacity 4480mAh in range 4.35 - 3.3 v

Autel Xstar Cell has capacity 4900mAh in range 4.20 - 3.0 v

So, Dji P3 cells could not be fully charged using native Autel Xstar charger. At 4.20v they have around 90% of their design capacity.

So instead of 4900mAh modded battery only has 4480 * 0.9 ~= 4000 mAh

Thats why flight time is reduced

If you look at the attached pic and look at the Static Battery Readings you will see Design Capacity at 2350 mAh. I would like to change it to 4480 0r 4000 mAh. I can only get about 8 minutes of flight time. the way it is. The NIP program is reading an Autel Xstar Battery BMS TI BQ3055 with new DGI Phantom 3 Lipo's attached. All parameters look good except for Design Capacity. I would be happy to get about 18 minutes of Total Flight Time with the DJI Phantom 3 Lipo's but I need to unseal the BMS chip BQ3055 to do this.

When I use the NIP software to RESET it finds the detected chip BQ3055 FW v0.04 and says the chip is supported, but the chip detected is BQ20ZXX (See Pic) Then when I go to Useal it an error says license for selected chip expired wX17Y-230707 (See pic). From the chip drop down menu their is no BQ3055 chip to select. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Would you like to try a remote reset. Thanks.
