whats the problem

 Some chips could not be read until System Present pin is properly connected to ground. Software gives you a prompt what to do next. 

So connect SP pin to ground and retry.

 So chip is Renesas R2J240_20F020. Cells made by Sanyo and whole pack also was made by Sanyo on request from Sony. Most probably chip firmware is also Sanyo made. 

 This chip is currently not supported by the license. 

 If you have ev2300 or ev2400 we could try to read it remotely.

This model battery in working state is readable by NLBA software so the problem is most likely in the PCB or firmware. Considering that it's also not detected in the laptop.

 Do you remember if System Present pin state matters on this battery in the term of SBS parameters readout ?.. 

I really don't remenber because it's been a long time since a had such a battery in my hands. But i think SP pin did not affect paramaters readout.
