This battery charges and discharges on NLBA. Laptop discharges ok but does not charge. other battery works fine on same laptop.

So firmware is corrupted. It could be a reason of the issue because laptop bios checks some Static parameters to verify a battery.

could't even read.received the battery like this.
Try to unseal the chip over Remote Server, then Device Name parameter could be fixed manually or in bqEVSW software.
