will the battery perform fine with 2 new and 2 old cells??? read somewhere that all should be for proper backup. If not so, what cases can afford such replacement.

Cells should be replaced with exactly the same brand, type. Used cells should be replaced with same cycles of service in addition to first rule. It was discussed many times on the forum.
