I tried the battery on my Macbook today, and it works (although from what i can see it goes off, when on battery only without charge at 26%. It then requires the adapter to be pulled in to come on again. It will still be at 26% It looks like it cannot go down any more than this percentage without the device going off abruptly.
I have now charged it up to 100%, screenshot from coconut battery below:
It reports incorrect battery info manufacture date (its showing the same date as the Macbook details.
i have also noticed that the cycles seem to be incorrect on coconut. there shouldnt be any more than 10 or 15 cycles on this
it goes off, when on battery only without charge at 26
Measure cells voltages with multimeter when laptops shut down.
Hi,
The nlba device can analyze and repair this type of battery (macbook pro 13", a1708). I had a locked battery, but the device unlocked it without any problems.
Thank you for the video. Just a question, the battery had a good Current, about 24mA draining before clearing the chip errors. Was the Output LED on ?
@fucskozoltan im particularly impressed with your setup - very nice
I do not understand the language but i would be really interested in seeing exactly how you wired up from NLBA -> V C D G to which points exactly on the battery, as i couldnt really clearly see on the video
Can you share a pic ?
Hi,
I don't know why the output led is lit. When I connected the sys, clk, data, pins, the output led was already lit. I put a resistor between the sys pin and gnd (maybe for that reason, I don't know)
System Present pin is used to enable output mosfets, so when it was connected to ground, voltage appeared on battery connector and front LED was lit. It means battery was not locked since beginning, just temporary deactivated because laptop bottom cover was removed. There is special screw there which is used to connect System Present line to ground. It could be confused that battery is locked and not working.
On Reset tab Charging Voltage and Charging Current displayed properly it is another proof chip was not locked.
Hi,
I don't really know much about battery electronics, but I've repaired several macbooks.
10 kohm was installed between the system present pin and ground. The output led already lit up when sys, scl, sda and the positive corner of the battery pack were connected. The negative pole was not connected and the power supply of the NLBA was not switched on at that time.
Removing the back cover of the macbook does not involve any deactivation. The "special screw" only connects the negative and positive poles of the battery to the motherboard. The "sys_detect _L", "smbus_smc_5_g3h_scl" and "smbus_smc_5_g3h_sda" rails are connected to the motherboard with a ribbon cable.
This was not the first battery that I checked with the nlba tool, and the others did not indicate locking. This battery was checked because the macbook did not work from the battery and did not charge it. However, after clearing the error, this was resolved.
